Give Birth to a viable subscription-based Cloud Services business!

You’ve made it through another tough year – the subscription-based economy only put a small dent in your core business. You feel the pressure mounting and just like the farmers of the agricultural era – you need more children to plant, nourish and harvest the new crops necessary for survival.

Baby New Year 2018 is that new subscription-based baby that you need to add to the family. The birth of a new business within the business will ensure you’ll be able to thrive and prosper in 2018.

But just as in your home life, contemplating bringing a newborn into the world is a serious and life altering decision.

It’s a commitment beyond belief and at this point in your business life do you have the desire and stamina to capture the new crops presenting themselves in the fertile fields of digital transformation that are forming all around us.

Although serious, it’s almost a non-decision if you’re looking to grow your business over the next 3 – 5 years. As you may know, 25 cents of every IT dollar will be spent on subscription-based services in the way of monthly recurring revenue (MRR) by the year 2020.

Raising a baby to adulthood is not easy, however, it is infinitely rewarding. Even if this baby does not look or act like all the rest. Some babies are just born to live a subscription-based life style and you need to welcome this child just like you did all the rest in the past.

Let’s give birth to a new baby in early 2018…

The New Born

You ready yourself for parenthood – perhaps you put a little money aside and perform some minor renovations in anticipation of the new born.

The blessed day comes and your overjoyed to welcome the new baby into the world. But wait, I’m having to do all the work and the baby is 100% dependent on me. I spend all day worrying what my newborn will grow to become – right now all it seems to do is sleep, eat and shit all day.

You could not be any prouder of your new born – its developing its own personality…

The Child

What a great kid – I’m still on the hook to provide a ton of guidance and pay all the bills, but this child is showing signs of someone who’ll grow up to be strong and independent. There is much to do and many things to learn, but your child is becoming more self-sufficient by the day and is more helpful around the house.

This kid is starting to get it and you believe they understand what it means to be a productive citizen…

The Teenager

Wow – just when things were going so smoothly and my child looks to me for guidance things have gone sideways. My cute little baby has become an expensive, gangly, and disruptive teenager and is disrupting the order of your house. Oh well – that’s the teenage years.

They’ve become a wise cracking know it all that wants more freedom and a much larger allowance.

They are growing, but they seem to have an endless appetite and they keep playing these repetitive new tunes that get louder and louder every month. This time it seems Elvis won’t ever leave the building, he’s here to stay.

Time to reset some of the rules and remind them of who still puts food on the table for now…

The Young Adult

It’s great to see, my baby has grown up to become a strong, independent and self-sufficient adult. What a solid and productive member of the family. So much more help these days. In fact, they’ve matured just at the right time as our original providers have become older and less able to support the household.

Looking back over the years (18 months in internet time…) perhaps the student has become the teacher and shown us that this alternative life style called subscription-based revenue was not so foreign after all – we just needed to accept change and expand our family.

You can clearly see that your child is truly able to support themselves and is a winner…

Epilogue

Although it was tough to originally support that new baby it turned out to the best thing you’ve ever done. In the end this kid will have the healthiest and longest life expectancy of all your children.

You pause and take a minute to reflect - what a proud moment as you reflect on the newborn’s birth, first steps, homework, awkward teenage years and then seeing them become a bright and prosperous young adult. It feels great creating a strong and lasting family legacy…

Now get moving and go make that Baby New Year!

In closing, remember it takes a village to raise a child so don’t forget the importance of strategic vendors and distributors that can provide a solid helping hand in driving your child’s success.

The likes of Microsoft (@Azure), Veeam (@veeam), VMware (@vCloud) and Westcon (@WestconGroup) are critical to raising a healthy and profitable baby. All of them can help you significantly increase your new born business parenting capabilities.

Best wishes for a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year from all of us at KloudReadiness!
